CD Release Celebration For "People Power"
8:30 PM, Doors Open 8:00 PM, $7 advance, $10 day of show,

Moe's Alley presents HOOPTY celebrating the release of their brand new studio album "People Power".  Special guests Disiac share the bill.

Hoopty has just dropped their new album, People Power; a ten song intergalactic voyage through funky realms both known and unknown. Produced by Alan Evans from Soulive, People Power explores a wide palate of slamming grooves and sexy styles, from 70s pimp funk to low down Bonham, JB's to Jankolicious, Middle Eastern to spoken word. Horns, Hammond B3, Vocoder, Talk Box, gospel vocals, special guests: It's off the hook! Live or in Memorex, come down and get a taste, your funky palate will surely be satisfied!

Hoopty is intoxicating 98 proof instrumental jazz funk. Simultaneously sophisticated and low down, slick and raw, tight and unhinged, Hoopty marries the depth and intrigue of jazz with the nasty simplicity of funk. Equally pleasing to the mind and the booty, Hoopty delivers infectious grooves for your butt, bebop for your brain, soaring solos for your soul and funky uplift for your spirit. Hoopty will cleanse your funky chakras! Since its inception in 2012, Hoopty has been storming stages with its tightly crafted original songs and exciting live performances, many times complimented by Go Go dancers and ecstatically grooving crowds. In addition to regularly performing at premier venues and festivals, Hoopty has also been in heavy rotation on internet radio stations like Funk Republic Radio, as well as on traditional radio stations like KSJS 90.5 and KZSC 88.1. Hoopty has been variably described as “Deep Funk favorites” (Jazz Times magazine), “sophisto-funk,” and as a cross between “Frank Zappa and P-Funk.” We describe ourselves as Neo-Vintage Funk: Drawing from the past, while pushing the funk forward. From the Mothership to Maceo, from the Meters to the Mahavishnu, Hoopty has drawn from the lineage of funkespians and conjured up its own kinky contribution. Come down and get funky with us!
