Moe's Alley presents the long awaited return of NINA STOREY for a very special CD release celebration featuring TESS DUNN.   Both Nina & Tess will have be backed by their full live bands.

Few artists are willing to bare it all. However, the ones who do tend to leave a long-lasting impression. On her new album, Think Twice, Nina Storey doesn't hold anything back. The soulful and sexy Los Angeles chanteuse delivers honest and hypnotic songs steeped in classic soul pop. Elegantly stripped, Nina is as powerful as she is provocative. Her Santa Cruz fans will be among the first to hear these new songs, as Think Twice will have its northern California release at Moe’s Alley.
In early 2012, the singer-songwriter entered the studio with renowned producer and founding member of Low Stars, Chris Seefried [Counting Crows, Fitz and the Tantrums, Jay Nash]. They had a very distinct sound in mind for the music and instantly tapped into it. "I like to call it future retro," says Storey. "It's got the sensibility of an old- school soul record from the likes of Eartha Kitt, Diana Ross and the Ronettes with a modern, Bruno Mars pop edge. This is the culmination of my writing for two years. The record has all the ferocity of my live performances, plus a focus on unforgettable melody.”
You can hear that delightful and delicate balance on the title track, "Think Twice." A bouncy bass line thumps to a tambourine beat as Storey takes on the role of a mischievous and seductive temptress inviting listeners to have some deviant fun. Elsewhere on the record, "Love Me Enough" bristles with a theatrical energy and burlesque fire, while "Gimmie Some" examines the nature of greed.
Storey is no stranger to making audiences move. She's performed alongside the likes of Keb'Mo', Etta James, Sara Bareilles, Ani DiFranco, Sarah McLachlan, The Rescues, Shawn Colvin, DeVotchKa, and many more. She has been featured on CNN Showbiz Today, MTV Online, and Rolling, and her music has had numerous film and television placements. Listed in the "20 To Watch In 2012" by the LA Examiner, Nina will be touring nationally this summer in support of Think Twice. In describing Storey’s vocal prowess, People Magazine wrote, "With a voice like hers, pyrotechnics are redundant," while Music Connection proclaimed, "By far one of the most powerful and expressive voices in the business today, combining poignant storytelling with memorable melodies."

Raspy-voiced Santa Cruz singer-songwriter Tess Dunn has accomplished more in 18 years than many performers with decades behind them. A four-year veteran of the San Francisco Vans Warped Tour who was named one of the top Bay Area performers by a leading S.F. radio station, Tess has already released two albums of her original music. Her latest, “Honesty Box,” was said by Eric Berg of KUSP to have “a great caffeinated garage sound not too dissimilar to the punk bands of 30 years ago.” Wrote another reviewer, “With lyrics dark yet hopeful, Dunn plays a range of songs that hit with the energy of Blink 182 and the emotional intensity of a Fiona Apple ballad.” Dubbed as “the young and the fearless” due to her fierce battle with cystic fibrosis, epilepsy and diabetes, Tess has participated in several national music and film productions to raise awareness, including Vans Off The Wall’s "Pass The Bucket" series, filmed in part at Moe’s Alley. Tess will be rocking it with her full band, taking her girl power to a whole new level.
